Personal Daily Water Usage Calculator: A Powerful Tool fo Education
In late 2023, ReservoAir launched an interactive tool to calculate personal daily water usage. Inspired by carbon footprint calculators, this tool aims to foster a deeper understanding of water usage and encourage conservation efforts. Users receive their water usage in liters and are presented with relevant animal representations to enhance engagement.
Educational Collaboration in Jakarta Intercultural School for Water Awareness
Recently, ReservoAir had a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) to embed in their JIS Studio activities with water as the theme. The collaboration consists of several activities: presentation, interactive education, and Podcast recording.
ReservoAir gave a short presentation regarding the water issues around us. Starting with the calculator, students were engaged and they were aware of how much water they use everyday. Moreover, since most of the students live in Jakarta but originally came from another country, the topic “Jakarta is Sinking” also caught their attention. It was not a fresh-new information for some of them–some even shared their opinion regarding the situation.
The interactive education was rather interesting. The junior high school students arrange activities for the 4th and 5th grade students regarding Runoff. They make a simple model of a house with its surrounding, and make it possible for the students to change the properties of the catchment (for example, choosing grass, garden, or paving block). The model will be demonstrated by pouring water into it–which is the representation of a rainwater. In the end, students will calculate how much water is cached through the pipe, how much resulting in a runoff, and which features most likely resulted in an inundated area.
It was really an insightful activity, where the concept of runoff, water infiltration and rainwater harvesting can be explained through an interactive way. Students were aware which land properties are good for water infiltration, and which will result in inundation and can lead to urban flooding.
Sharing Stories Through Podcast Recording
The JIS students showed their creativity by having platforms to showcase their activity in JIS Studio. ReservoAir participated in Podcast Recording that is published in JIS’s Spotify. The conversation was about how ReservoAir starts the business, what are the challenges, and how ReservoAir overocomes the challenges.
Through the collaboration with JIS Studio, ReservoAir aims to make a significant impact by educating students and inspiring them to become advocates for sustainable water practices. By providing tools and engaging activities, ReservoAir is committed to fostering a more water-conscious community.
