The concept of zero run off

Zero Run-off is a principle policy on how every building may not cause an increase in water discharge to the existing drainage system. It is part of the Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) to develop a water-sensitive urban design.

Why is it important?

Increasing water recharge to the drainage or river flow system will increase flood risk happening in that area. Therefore allowing rainwater to infiltrate into the ground as soon as it hits the ground will prevent runoff and reduce the risk of flooding.
